Big News :)

We're not going to post this to the public until sometime in March, but we just found out that we're expecting yesterday! We have shared the news with a few close friends and all our family! David and I are a little scared, but beyond excited to start a family of our own :) As of right now (if my timing is right), the due date is October 7, 2011! So that makes my maternity leave all through the holidays :) Couldn't have planned that ANY better!!!

*How far along?: 4 Weeks and 3 Days
*How big is baby?: The size of a poppy seed :)
*Weight Gain: Just starting all this, so nothing!
*Sex: ??
*Maternity clothes: None
*Stretch marks: None
*Sleep: I randomly woke up at 5:45 this morning, hoping this is not a sign for the preceding future! I fell asleep about 30 minutes later, though!
*Symptoms: Dizzy when I watch David play video games or my iPod touch, and the "girls" are sore
*Movement: Nada
*Food cravings: Nada
*Labor signs: Lord no!
*Belly button in or out: In
*What I miss: Nothing yet :)
*What I'm looking forward to: Our first ultrasound/sonogram!
*Best moment of the week: Looking at these tests!

Update :)

So I haven't posted in a little over a week, so I figured I would update our family from afar on our status!

*How far along?: 5 Weeks and 5 Days
*How big is baby?: The size of an apple seed :)
*Weight Gain: Just starting all this, so nothing!
*Sex: We just want healthy! We eventually want one of each, so either would be great!
*Maternity clothes: None
*Stretch marks: None
*Sleep: I'm a sleeping machine!
*Symptoms: Still having some dizzy spells, nausea is the worst between 3 pm and bedtime
*Movement: Nada
*Food cravings: Nada
*Labor signs: Not for at least 30 more weeks, k?
*Belly button in or out: In
*What I miss: Not being dizzy or nauseated
*What I'm looking forward to: Our first ultrasound/sonogram next Monday on Valentines :)
*Best moment of the week: Completely unrelated to the pregnancy, we sent off all our loan documents and finished of the final home paperwork (we're getting an electric stove with a flat cook top, yay!) They are supposed to be breaking ground on our home within the next week or so!!!

7 Weeks!

*How far along?: 7 Weeks
*How big is baby?: The size of a blueberry
*Weight Gain: Still nothing
*Sex: We just want healthy! We eventually want one of each, so either would be great!
*Maternity clothes: None
*Stretch marks: None
*Sleep: I'm a sleeping machine!
*Symptoms: Seems like anytime after 9 pm is my prime time for nausea
*Movement: Nada
*Food cravings: Nada
*Labor signs: Not for at least 29 more weeks, k?
*Belly button in or out: In
*What I miss: Being able to fall asleep without feeling nauseated
*What I'm looking forward to: Our first ultrasound/sonogram next Monday 2/21 :) They decided to push it back a week so we could see our little one's heart beating (this week is the week the heart forms quite a bit so you can see it more clearly via ultrasound).

Moving on Up!

So, we had a big surprise at our ultrasound visit today. We were certain that we were 7 weeks and 3 days before our visit, but the ultrasound tech said, "and now how far along do you think you are? ... because this baby is measuring almost 11 weeks!"

Here is our little peanut's first picture :)

Needless to say, we were a little surprised (I had a little inkling that we might be further along since I was already feeling nauseated mid-January) but excited to have our little one in our arms even sooner!

*How far along?: Approximately 10 weeks and 5 days
*How big is baby?: The size of a prune
*Weight Gain: Still nothing
*Sex: We just want healthy! We eventually want one of each, so either would be great! (However, we both have a feeling it's going to be a girl)
*Maternity clothes: None
*Stretch marks: None
*Sleep: I still can sleep like it's my job :)
*Symptoms: Nausea from 3 pm to midnight, headaches, and I'm a little more moody than usual (just ask my poor husband and co-workers, ha ha!)
*Movement: Nada
*Food cravings: Nothing really, just starting to feel a little more picky when I'm eating
*Labor signs: Not for at least 26 more weeks, k? Let's at least get to term (36 weeks)
*Belly button in or out: In
*What I miss: Nothing!
*What I'm looking forward to: Finding out the sex in about 3 weeks at one of those 4D places :)

Happy Valentines Day Weekend!

The word love has so many meanings in the English language, but one of my favorite meanings regards my spouse and family/friends. We're taking this Valentine's Day to remember all the people that we love and to challenge ourselves to love even more this year :) For me, it's not about the flowers, the chocolates, or other things that aren't permanent. This time of year can become so materialistic (as with the holiday season as well) as we see/hear what others have received, where people went, where they ate, etc. I challenge you to forget about the materialistic junk this year. Cook dinner together at home for each other and make it a simple, romantic night :) Oh yea, and it's not all about the ladies either, the men need love too!

We still have no particular plans at this point, but we like it that way. All we need is each other to have a good time! Hope each of you enjoy your Valentine's Day with your significant other, friends, and families :)

Love,
Brooke :)

Everything You Want

Do you have any album that brings you way back to a certain place in your life? For women, we connect foods, smells, and songs to events much easier than most men. Our brains are like a never ending scrapbook. Well, one band in particular brings me right back to high school. I remember having it on repeat in my Explorer for months. I randomly heard on of their songs last week on the radio and I could recite every word like it was yesterday (our brains are such amazing creations to remember things like that from years and years ago, aren't they!?).

Well, the band that I'm referring to is Vertical Horizon. You may not remember the name, but I'm sure a few of these songs will be very familiar to you ...

I took the splurge and downloaded the whole album last night on my iPod and I traveled back to high school for about an hour :)

On another note, God is so good! Seriously, He leaves me speechless with all His magnificent works :)

Hope you have a blessed day my fellow blogger friends!
